CPKC expects operating conditions to remain seasonal across our network this week. 

We will continue to provide updates should conditions change with regard to potential network impacts.

Asset forecast this week
Demand is balanced across the CPKC fleets. We encourage customers to load and release equipment in a timely manner to assist with car velocity on the network.

Markets – new or notable
CPKC moved 477,324 metric tonnes of Canadian grain and grain products in Week 32. This is the 3rd largest weekly total of the calendar year.

CPKC’s customers are continuing to direct trains to the Port of Thunder Bay in anticipation of the seaway reopening at the end of March.

For the 4-week period ending March 17 2024, CPKC’s U.S. PNW shuttles averaged a total of 13.8 cycle days or 2.2 turns per month. CPKC’s total U.S. grain cycle times for the 4-week period ending March 4, 2024, was 14.2 total cycle days or 2.1 turns per month.

CPKC announced new Canadian export rates to Thunder Bay moving under tariff 4310, effective March 15, 2024 and rates going to Vancouver moving under tariff 4310, effective April 1, 2024. For specific rates by origin, please reference items of tariff CPRS 4310 or contact your Account Manager.
